What is a Ranger?
The historic Tennessee Rangers of the early 1900s were the first Tennessee State Law Enforcement agency and many formations of even older Tennessee State military units were organized as Rangers. The Tennessee Rangers were never truly disbanded. It was simply unfunded and left to die out. Our organizational charter is the first mention of the Tennessee Rangers in State Department records since 1923. We are listed as a Tennessee Public Benefit Corporation.
We are not a law enforcement agency. We are not a militia. We are a humanitarian aid organization and select auxiliary constabulary. The collective expertise of our cadre gives law enforcement and state leaders a nimble, budget effective and highly qualified option for specialized consulting and operational support.
We have Squadron Members from many career fields. Many are law enforcement, high level security personnel, military veterans and public safety professionals. Some are not. Some are business leaders and industry professionals.
We have pilots, carpenters, doctors, attorneys, soldiers, Marines and sailors. Lawmen and firemen. Retirees and bodyguards, bankers and professional adventurers. We are a State based martial honor society. A historic constabulary. A humanitarian aid and protection guild of Tennesseans for Tennesseans.
